A GOLDEN BALLGOWN

Attending a Ball ? This classic to-piece ballgown could be an option.
It consists of a corset, made of  - do I dare to say ? - a vintagedress. The dress wasn´t that nice, but the silkfabric is beautiful.
It is inspired by historical corsets, has a sweetheart neckline and is fully lined with grey silktaffeta. It has metalboning and is closed with steel eyelet holes for lacing.

I tried to fit the flower-motive at one particular point in every seam. The full skirt is lined with taffeta and has two layers of stiff and soft golden net.

Champagne Brunch

-To celebrate a 50th birthday in a nice setting like this, where the colour of the food and wineglasses brightens up the day. Just for inspiration.

FULL FRONTAL !

Corsets are very intriguing to make. To choose the right style and obtain the right fit, not to loose and not to tight is always a challenge. Not to talk about the execution. There is so many ways to do them and different ways of closings too.

On request, I promised to present a few of the corsets on the new hangers last week. . . So here they are. Enjoy!

Two of these corsets are closed with steel eyelet holes for lacing, two with metal busks in the front. But you can do both. The pink one is closed with hooks and eyes.

I will post a few more later on. If you are interested or want to know more details about these corsets, don´t hesitate to contact me.

CORSET HANGERS

To store corsets, these hangers works brillantly. I have been looking for a solution like that for ages. But didn´t think of it before I actually saw the hangers, remembering a tv-program not long time ago.

These corsets are primarily showpieces, made in American sizes 6, 8 and 10, English sizes 8, 10 and 12 and European sizes 36, 38 and 40.
You can make a good deal by purchasing one of them if they fit you or order a measure-made corset, which is one of my specialties.

DEBBIE REYNOLDS - THE AUCTION

The legendary actress and entertainer, Debbie Reynolds´ extensive Collec- tion of Iconic Hollywood costumes is going to be auctioned on June 18, 2011 at The Paley Center for Media, 465 North Beverly Drive, Beverly Hills, CA 90210.

This may be a once in a lifetime opportunity to purchase some of the costu- mes from Iconic Hollywood movies.
Debbie Reynolds first tried to find an institution or great collectors to  keep the collection together, but sadly enough she didn´t succeed. So now you have the chance to bit on your favourite piece.

"My lifetime dream has been to assemble and preserve the history of the Hollywood film industry. Hollywood has been an enormous part of my life as I know it has been for countless fans all over the world.
This collection represents a lifetime of collecting Hollywood artifacts and this is a rare opportunity to own a piece of Hollywood History for those who love the movies as much as I do.
For the first time in nearly five decades, these iconic pieces will be made available to the public through a series of auctions presented by Profiles in History beginning in June 2011."

THE INFLUENCE OF AN ERA. . .

-Continues to inspire designers of today. It is of course the 1970' es I am referring too.

Halston (1932-90) was the designer of the era and dressed all the celebrities  at that time.
They all met at Studio 54 in New York, a decadent and notorious discoteque in the late 1970´s. For more information read the post on style/mag. here.

Even today you see a lot of celebreties wearing Halston Vintage at big events, because it still looks glamourous, contemporary, stylish and effortless.

Today we still see a very strong influence in the collections from Tom Ford and Marc Jacobs among others. They also frequented the famous club back then.

Tom Ford since gained international fame for his turnaround of Gucci from 1990-2004, because he gave back the house a more contemporary, sexy and  glamouros style with that same influence.
Especially the latest collection in his own name shows very much the impact that era had on him. Read more about his state of mind and why in Harper´s Bazaar here.

THE RESULT. . .

-Of The 2011 CFDA Fashion Award Winners was finally revealed yesterday at the annual gala at Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln Center in New York.

I wrote about Lady Gaga's nomination in an earlier post and of course she won an Award for her originality and influence on fashion.
Her outfit for the occasion was not bad, but the bustier could have fitted her much better in my opinion. The Cups looks to small and too low on her corset. What do you think? Was it a fair decision ?

See all the pictures and read a full review of the event in The Huffington Post here.

Ambition!

Modesty Blaise, an inspiration and one of
my favourite cartoons.

Don´t you think it is okay to have ambitions and goals in life? - I do!

Next to love, pursuing or following your dreams to realize and make them come true, is a great way of getting satisfaction and happiness in your life I think. I am convinced that you always will regret it, if you don´t try. That is what keeps me going. . .

Basically you need to be strong, persistant and have a certain amount of confidence. Enough to dare to stand out, no matter what other people think. In other words, you have to believe in yourself.

What is holding you back? Please share your thoughts. . .
